CES 2013 at Las Vegas opened to many technology aficionados as NVIDIA announced a Shield handheld gaming device powered by the Tegra 4 mobile chip, which was also revealed at the event. NVIDIA is raising the stakes by entering the gaming industry, which has major players like Sony, Microsoft and since Wii U did good Nintendo also make a big player.
Tegra 4 has been claimed by the firm as the fastest processor in the world and is reported to integrate the modem into the chipset, which will be a major attraction for smartphone makers. Qualcomm, the company’s main rival is yet to appear at CES 2013, which will then put things in perspective for the NVIDIA.
In other happenings at the CES 2013, Corning is planning to show Gorilla Glass 3 at the Las Vegas event. The new offering from the firm is reported to be three times tougher than its predecessor and will incur 40 percent less visible scratches and provide 50 percent more shock resistant strength.
NVIDIA is also planning to introduce cloud gaming with the newly announced Shield handheld gaming console. Microsoft is reported to be absent from the CES 2013, but Windows 8 will play a bigger role at the Vegas event. LG announced the Ultra HD 4K TV introducing a new range in the television category.
Lenovo launched a 27-inch IdeaCentre Horizon table PC, at the CES 2013 with Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce graphics and a full HD screen with 1080p. Sony is rumoured to announce Xperia Z at the event, which is expected to rival the likes of Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
